pendant lamp holders
These luminaires started with a fondness and adoration for the clear/tipped type ‘G’ globe lamp, and a desire to celebrate its platonic spherical shape. The coating on the bottom half of the lamp is an embedded light control feature that reflects light up and outward while blocking unwanted glare downwards. In designing the lamp holder, there was a desire to restrain from getting in the way of the design of the lamp, while still engaging with its form and finish. Like other pursuits, it is no surprise that such an exploration of reductionism conjures up echoes of geometric memories of mid-century modernism, even though there was no intent to do so.
