Laser Glassified Ceramic Mosaic Tile
These mosaic tiles reflect the intertwined relationships between a medium and opportunities to exploit methods of manipulation available through “new” technology. The surfaces of these hand-made ceramic tiles (earthenware, stoneware and porcelain) were glassified using a CO2 laser. To produce the wide, 2 mm lines of glass, the laser was purposely fired out-of-focus.
